Steamboat Ski & Resort acquired by American Skiing Company
American Skiing Company has purchased the stock of Kamori International, resulting in the acquisition of Steamboat Ski Resort in Colorado, Heavenly Ski Resort in California/Nevada, and Sabal Point Golf Course in Florida for $300.5 million. Mike Krongel advised ASC on the acquisition.
Steamboat first opened for business in 1963 as Storm Mountain, under local ownership with one double chairlift. After several transactions and a sale to Northwest Colorado Ski Corporation, the business was renamed Steamboat Ski Corporation in 1979. Ten years later, the resort was acquired by Kamori Kanko Co. Ltd. of Japan.
