Avocent/Cybex acquires PixelVision

Boston, MA, October 6, 1999 – Mirus Capital Advisors, a leading private M&A advisory firm, announced today that the firm has successfully negotiated the sale of PixelVision Technology, Inc. to Cybex Computer Products Corporation (now Avocent), representing its sixth technology-related transaction in 1999. In a company press release this morning, Avocent’s President and CEO Stephen F. Thornton commented that the acquisition of PixelVision “provides opportunities for technology integration resulting in leading-edge video and KVM solutions for future management and control solutions.” Mr. Thornton went on to say that PixelVision “expands our market channels to include the financial services sector and adds important working relationships with several major U.S. computer manufacturers.”

PixelVision is a leading provider of value-added display solution technologies to the financial trading market, and the key supplier of display solutions to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and major financial institutions worldwide. PixelVision was twice ranked on Inc. magazine’s “Fast 500” award, which recognizes the fastest growing companies in America. The Company was recently awarded a Gold Medal in the ’99 Industrial Design Excellence Awards for SMARTGLAS, a display solution which allows for information merging from multiple platforms. The principals of Mirus Capital Advisors, retained on an exclusive basis by PixelVision, initiated the transaction, acted as financial advisor to the selling stockholders and participated in the negotiations leading to its successful conclusion.
