NetPro Acquires Synaxis’ AlertWare
NetPro has announced the acquisition of AlertWare, a network utility software company, from Synxis Corp. The AlertWare product is the only tool exclusively designed to monitor and optimize Novell’s GroupWise system. NetPro has renamed the product MailCentral for GroupWise to better reflect its value and to assimilate it into NetPro’s product naming scheme.
Mirus Capital Advisors represented the management and shareholders of Synaxis Corp. in the transaction.
“NetPro’s technology and market leadership will ensure that MailCentral continues to be the leading solution for monitoring Novell’s GroupWise,” says Greg Arnette, former president of AlertWare.
“We are thrilled to add MailCentral to our list of outstanding product offerings, particularly given the growing importance of email in today’s global networking environment,” says Joanne Carthey, President and CEO of NetPro. “We are confident that MailCentral is the premier product available for monitoring GroupWise email. It provides unparalleled functionality for comprehensively and proactively detecting, diagnosing and resolving email problems.”
Recognized by Novell as the preferred GroupWise management solution for non-ManageWise environments, MailCentral provides 24-hour monitoring of GroupWise components, including email messages, and administrative and post office servers. MailCentral for GroupWise is also the only tool on the market today that alerts network administrators of email problems before they affect internal customers.
“NetPro has been a Novell NDS Partner for several years and has built a solid reputation of providing solutions that centrally monitor and optimize mission-critical services,” says Lowell Camp, director of business development for Novell. “With the acquisition of MailCentral for GroupWise, NetPro now extends its services to GroupWise customers by providing exceptional protection against disruptions in message flow.”
NetPro’s MailCentral for GroupWise clearly delineates functions that are performing below administrator-defined levels, providing a warning signal for both current and potential problems. And it affords access to this important information through a number of convenient notification methods, including email, pager, SNMP, and Novell Send. MailCentral is currently being used by customers in industries ranging from food service and finance to government and education. “We chose MailCentral because there’s simply nothing better out there,” says Marc Gosselin of Franklin Pierce Law. “I had a critical need to manage a large student population with a lot of GroupWise rules. MailCentral dramatically decreased downtime and eliminated system lock-ups.”
